Workshop on the topic "mutation(s)" by the Interfacultary Plateforme for Gender Studies
Four conferences will deal with the challenge of implementing a gender-perspective into undergraduate medical education. The session will start with a theoretical and conceptual account and end up with feedbacks from similar projects at a European scale.
From the 90's, many voices have arisen asking to pay a greater attention to the impact of gender in medicine. This rise of awareness has led to the diffusion of several guidelines and calls to action, including the OMS Gender Mainstreaming, the Gendered Innovations Stanford, and the European Gender and Medicine project.
In Lausanne, this growing rise of awareness in the medical community is a starting point for acting toward a better integration of gender at a practical level in medical education. This project faces the challenge of engaging professionals who are not accustomed to gender analysis in shifting their actual practice and including a gender-sensitive perspective.
This conference session aims to explore the practical aspects of implementing a gender perspective into undergraduate teaching in the Medical School of Lausanne. The conference will discuss the challenges, strategies and experiences in shifting teaching practices of medical school in a way that allows a transverse integration of a gender perspective.
