Dans le cadre du séminaire « Bouillon d'idées »
There are increasing emergence of collaborative development initiatives/activities by actors and institutions in the cocoa sector in Asunafo area. The purpose of this awakening development collaboration is to ensuring sustainable cocoa production where production and maintenance of cocoa are integrated in the conservation of the forest (both reserve and off-reserve) for quality and increasing supply of cocoa beans, enhancing livelihood and conserving biodiversity. This came against the growing threats of deforestation and degradation, extinction of animal species, declining yields of cocoa farms and poverty among cocoa farmers in the cocoa production landscape of Asunafo. A fieldwork was undertaken to ascertain the extent to which the relationship between production relations and forest conservation has the prospect of establishing the functionalities and expected deliverables of the sustainability programs in the cocoa production landscape. My presentation will highlight my fieldwork experience with various actors as well as the landscape in the study area.
