Call for Participation
We are happy to invite Doctoral students in Information Systems in Switzerland to attend the 6th doctoral consortium (DC) of the Swiss Chapter of the AIS (CHAIS) that will take place at University of Lausanne on August 26, 2019.
CHAIS is an association of all major Swiss information systems research groups at Universities.
DC faculty will be comprised of experienced professors from all major groups. Currently, the following professors have agreed to serve as DC faculty:
Prof. Dr. Jens Dibbern, University of Bern
Prof. Dr. Christine Legner, University of Lausanne
Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister, University of St. Gallen
Prof. Dr. Gerhard Schwabe, University of Zürich
Prof. Dr. Robert Winter, University of St. Gallen
The consortium is aimed to provide multi-perspective feedback for doctoral dissertation projects, ideally in the middle (2nd or 3rd year) of their dissertation projects.
Around 10-15 doctoral students will be given the opportunity to present and discuss their research projects in small groups with other doctoral students and experienced faculty members from Swiss Universities.
Doctoral students are expected to
apply to be admitted to the DC until July, 15 2019. Applications should include the following:
a motivation letter and one-page summary paper of their dissertation project,
a (very short) support statement of their supervisor,
submit a five to ten page dissertation paper by August 15, summarizing motivation, related work, problem statement/research gap, proposed research approach, planned or actual evaluation
attend the doctoral consortium on August 26, present and discuss their papers in 60 minute sessions (20 mins presentation, 30 mins discussion)
attend a general dissertation Q&A session together with DC faculty
Upon participation and if all the requirements are met, CHAIS will deliver a letter certifying successful participation. This letter might be useful in getting some credits in the home institution if applicable.
There will be no charge for attending the DC. Participants will however need to cover travel and accommodation costs with own funds and need to be or become members of the CHAIS.
All DC communication is to be directed to
