Ludovic Ravanel, chercheur invité du CIRM, donnera une conférence sur le changement climatique en haute montagne, le 8 mars prochain dans le cadre du cycle de conférences de l'IDYST.
Out of a few hanging glaciers that give risks for mountain or valley infrastructure, very little research has been carried out on the ice masses adhering on high mountain rock faces. Together with the hanging glaciers (e.g. north face of the Dent d'Hérens, 4173 m a.s.l.) and the mobile glaciers on steep rockwall (e.g. north face of the Pointe Dufour, 4498 m a.s.l.; Mont Rose), some very little known glaciological objects are present in the Alps: the ice aprons (e.g. north face of the Dent Blanche, 4357 m), a condition of traditional mountaineering practice. They are a real glaciological heritage but their existence is now deeply challenged by the climate change.
