Abstract:
The IS field has the opportunity to address a new range of questions and phenomena by expanding its attention to process. In this discussion, I plan to address how a particular view of theory can stimulate a process view; what process generally consists of presenting a typology or taxonomy of identified process types. I also plan to examine why process is a pervasive aspect of phenomena relevant to IS knowledge accumulation in particular. Throughout I argue that process theory opens up a new realm of questions that can rejuvenate the IS field and reconnect academia and practice.
