Conférencier : Prof. Quddus Mirza (National College of Arts de Lahore (Pakistan))
Born in 1961 in Lahore, artist and curator Quddus Mirza has shown his work in many group and solo exhibitions in Pakistan, the UK and India. He was the Head of the Fine Arts Department at the National College of Arts, Lahore until his retirement in 2021. In his artistic work and his teaching, he is inspired by traditional South Asian techniques such as miniature painting. As an art critic and avid reader of contemporary literature, Quddus Mirza frequently writes columns on art and literary topics in various magazines. Among others, he has contributed to Himal, Dawn and The News.
In his talk, he will share his thoughts on censorship and self-censorship in the contemporary art scene of Pakistan and South Asia in general.
