DNF & DBS Joint Seminar
Abstract and links:
Despite initial skepticism, it is presently clear that psychological states generated in the brain can impact critical body functions such as immunity and mucosal barrier integrity. However, circuit models for this mechanism are mostly lacking. The presentation will cover recent developments in deciphering body-brain neuronal pathways, specifically how they tap into body parts involved in the regulation of immune organs and defense against pathogens. These circuits represent potential entry points for neural therapies aiming at overcoming the effects of psychological distress.
