This presentation will focus on understanding the definition, history, and position of Islamic Feminism in the global context. Simultaneously, it will delve into the introduction of Islamic Feminism in India, examining its introduction and development. The aim is to conduct a critical analysis of Islamic feminist thought, challenging prevailing assumptions, and exploring a comprehensive definition of Islamic feminism. This study serves as a focal point for exploring the intricate interplay between gender, religion, and identity within the evolving socio-political landscape.

Shabnur Parveen is a PhD student at the English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad, India. She is a visiting doctoral student at the Centre for Gender Studies at the University of Lausanne. Her PhD work focuses on understanding the Islamic idea of feminism in contemporary Muslim women’s autobiographies.
