Caves, with their subterranean geological formations, are not only natural wonders but also hold immense scientific, cultural, and environmental significance. Show caves, in particular, have become carefully curated destinations that offer a unique opportunity for visitors to explore geological processes, appreciate aesthetic beauty, and recognize ecological importance. The growing interest in cave tourism brings both economic opportunities and challenges related to overexploitation and environmental degradation. Therefore, the sustainable development of cave tourism is crucial and requires strategic planning, adept management, and conservation efforts. The E-SCAM (Extended Show Cave Assessment model) emerges as a valuable tool for the comprehensive evaluation of show caves. This model goes beyond the traditional assessments by considering scientific, educational, aesthetic, and protective values associated with these subterranean marvels. The implementation of E-SCAM aims to analyze these values and propose practical strategies for sustainable cave tourism development while addressing potential challenges and negative impacts.
