Context

The Lausanne Advanced Seminar in Political Ecology is an annual event with a specific theme that aims to deepen participants' understanding of political ecology research approaches. The event is co-sponsored by the IGS North-South Graduate School (collaboration of UNIL, UniBe, UniBasel, UniZH). Past themes have included political agronomy, feminist urban political ecology, decolonising geography and forestry.

For 2024, the theme is "Historical Political Ecology". The first day will begin with a seminar held with historians working on African value chains, before the doctoral workshop in the afternoon. The second day will be spent in the Neuchâtel Botanical Garden for a visit of the Business Plantes exhibition, and a roundtable on museum engagement with colonial histories.
